  1. I appreciate the emphasis from the article on seeking “sufficient access points across your market and the right kind of levels of care” for patients. From the standpoint of surgical care, there is largely a dichotomy of ASCs vs Hospitals. Because of limitations in patients insurance plans, the episode of care is driven to one or the other, frequently for reasons that have nothing to do with what is really best for the patient. In the same way that we should expect insurers to maintain proper network adequacy, ensuring that proper alignment of the location of care with a particular patient’s needs should be a top priority.
